Retailing at $99.99, the “dark edition” was available for pre-order only and came with a litany of extras including an official soundtrack, a 232 page artbook and a making of DVD with all the in-game cinematics and behind the scenes footage.
“It’s great news for us, that the Dark Edition was such a success worldwide. I hope players will appreciate the gadgets we prepared for them,” CD Projekt Red board member Michał Nowakowski said in a statement. The announcement comes just two weeks before the game’s Xbox 360 debut on April 17. A couple of weeks ago, CD Projekt RED announced that the “dark edition” was completely sold out in Europe as well. That means any prospective Witchers that unfortunately missed the “dark edition” for Xbox 360 will have to settle for the Enhanced edition, which will come with the soundtrack, a quest handbook and a world map.
Curiously enough, GameStop still has a listing for the “Dark Edition” up on its site, allowing for people to add it to their cart. The listing could be updated to reflect CD Projekt RED’s announcement later in the day.
CD Projekt RED boasts The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will be “one of the best looking RPGs ever” for Microsoft’s console.
